Description

Figwort (Scrophulara Nodosa) is a perennial herb, 50-125 cm tall. Stem is acutely tetrahedral, straight. Leaves are ovate, 5-17 cm long, 2-8 cm wide, pointed, broadly cordate at the base. Flowers are on pedicels, 1 cm long, covered, like peduncles, with brown, almost black glandular hairs, 3-4 in half-umbels on axillary peduncles 1-2 cm long. Capsule is spherical or broadly ovate, greenish-brown, 5-8 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, pointed, glabrous. Seeds are elliptical, 0.7 mm long, 0.4 mm wide, dark brown. The plant is blooming from May to August.
